OK, I think I should know the answer to this question, but...

If you buy a Chevy SS in the '63 to '7X era, you get the SS wheels/wheel covers. Well, except something like a '69 Impala SS, they got the Rallyes.

So, I seem to be seeing something different over here in Step Child land. Seems like poverty caps on plain steel wheel were also available.

Can someone point me to somewhere that 'splains this?

    TIA,
    Steve
ps- reason being my non-posi rear end with 14X6 wheels is a biyatch to launch without wheel spin. Even with a 2.73 axle. Eventually, I'd like to go to something like 3.36 and a posi, but in the meanwhile...

My memory seems to have fogged up a little on this but I do know that the ralley wheels weren't available until `67. I think it also depends on what model but I'm 99% sure that no Impala SS ever got poverty caps from the factory.

I don't think so either. My '64 Impala had the full wheel covers. And I distinctly recall SS big Chevies got rallyes only. Though I did see a non-SS '68 Impala two door post with a 427 and a 4-speed that had the poverty caps. Quite the sleeper.

My real question is if a '68 California GS only came with rallyes (mine are the painted ones, which I rarely see around) or if some came with plain steel wheels and hub caps or full wheel covers.

There's a guy here in the Chi burbs with a big block 4spd 67 with dog dish. He claims to be be original owner and says that's how his came.

This is out of the 68 Buick Features book. Im going to assume the available wheels for the Special Deluxe were the same as the California GS?
