I call mine "Grandpa's Buick". I used to hear that Buicks were grandpa cars, and now that we are officially grandparents................ I even had a sticker made for the back window. Bill
I shuffled some letters around,,,and simply call my car BUCKI. I used to call my girlfriend that,,,just to give her a complex,,,(you guys know how women are),,we went to the Woodward cruise,,,we made a deal,,,if SHE spotted and pointed out a 65 skylark without any help from me,,,I would quit calling her bucki and that would be the cars name,,,,soooo,,,I seen where one was parked and went past it,,,,she didn't notice,,,as the day wore on I ramped up the calling her Bucki,,,so she was really on the lookout!!!! I finally drove past where the 65 was parked again and made it obvious what I was looking at,,,,I thought she was going to go through the roof when she finally noticed it!!! Sooooo,,,,she now has a new nickname and the cars called Bucki.
I did not name mine but I did give my sisters 65 Mustang a name. I call it the GDM. Early Mustangs are crap.
I have two kids (girls) and they name all of our cars. My Bee is named Jr. because I don't have a son. I think they call the T/A Wilber. I'm not sure why. We recently sold Buddy (green Bee) and Barney(purple Bee). We still have Ruby, Ruby 2 and Bob. KID
haha nice, I read this thread to see if anyone else calls their car Gus...I guess I'm not the only one.
Riviera is Rose just because thats her color. 65 Wagon is named Baby Ruth because she reminded me of a candy bar. My wife and her friends call it the "Beast" and similar things, but I think she's more feminine than that.
TOPCAT because my car is a Wildcat and that was one of my favorite cartoons p http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEv29oPtCbY Peace WildBill p.s.....i did not name it until 3 years after i got it.......here's a 1975 shot...notice front plate....have i got ego then ?.....BB........
Well this is weird that is what I wanted to name my 63 Cat back in 93 for the same reasons. I grew up on that show Top Cat But someone already had that name in Wisconsin for a personal plate. I finnaly decided on KQQLCAT because on a plate the Q's look like eyes. I also have CQQLKAT. Pat
i called my El Bombo since La Bamba is sooooo taken already. it'd be a perfect la bamba, but in black, it's more masculine. it's still a Bomb so el bombo is perfect. actually in honor of the National Name your Car Day (today Oct 2nd) i officially named it "El Bombo, the Ese' Mobile". it just looks like la bamba to me man, all it needs is some black dingle balls man, and aire you say, Ese! hey man, the only rule for going for a ride with me man, is you have to say man like in every sentence that you say, man, just like in the cheech and chong movies man, know what i mean man? hey man, like far out man! Like i knew you did, man. God man! to think i used to talk like that all the time man, i had the whole cheech and chong record memorized for like years man! i musta sounded like some kinda burn out man. Jew remember man! jew talk dat way too, man?
French lession (Re: What's your car's name and how did you name it?) Dear V-8 Buick owners of "members of the family." Since I didn't know about this thread I might as well also contribute. My trusty 1965 Buick Special wagon is named Biquette which a french slang word roughly meaning "billy-goat." However, some French words can have a masculine or feminine gender depending on the spelling. Biquet would be masculine. So the most collect translation for Biquette would be tom-boy nanny-goat. Cheers, Edouard
Dusty is a fine gentleman, 1965 Skylark, my husband bought him over 20 yrs ago. He parked it in the garage 15 yrs ago never to drive it again. He became full of dust, scratched from things leaning on him, he had all kinds of boxes inside and out. This spring I removed all those boxes called a tow truck and he went to the mechanic. I was told I needed to wash it cause it had so much dust, there fore I named him Dusty. Guess who drives him?? Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk
Ruthy. I was told this was the Skylark's name, after a previous owner Ruthy, who was an elderly lady who putzed around in it. Ruthy was bought to be fixed up, but the owner passed away. I always thought the name Ruthy kind of fit the car, so it stuck. BTW, I have a weirdo wife who tends to name everything, including houseplants.
