We booked at the Red Roof Inn in Salem for the BPG meet in Aug, but just did some online research, and travelocity states that there are NO amenities at the Red Roof! What's up with that??? No pool, restaurant, game room, excercise room, NOTHING!!! And this is our host hotel? uzzled: Anyone know any different information about this?? With many of us bringing families, this is a big consideration... might have to move to a better equipped motel if these facts are correct. o No:
The nicest hotel close to the track is the Dutch Village Inn which has suites and the works. It is new.
i just want some guiness and a bunch of you guys around... i'd be set.. i'm sure i could hear enough stories to keep me entertained all night lol oh, and congrats on 5000 adam!
I imagine there will be a lot of kids to keep pre-occupied. I hope there are some activities my son can join in with other kids to do such as swimming. I'm sure I'm not the only one that will have an unhappy camper if there isn't something other than the cars to focus on for 4 days. The wife may be one of them. :spank: Anything in the area? Like a water park? I better buy Zach a mongo sized pack of batteries for the Game Boy.
Re: I imagine there will be a lot of kids to keep pre-occupied. i'll uh... bring some tools and john schmidt can bring a rolling garage since we all know he's got one ... i mean he's got that bitchin motorhome and trailer for his cars... figure he's got the mobile garage to go with it.. we can do a monster garage to some fords or chevies if you guys are interested.. we'll make a chevette a 9 second buick powered dragster...
David, He'll be 14 on Sunday. Though there are times I swear he's 4. (Glad he doesn't read the board!) p
David, our boy will be five come summer, but we're on the fence as to bringing him along. In fact we cant get there till friday night becouse he graduates pre-school that day in the morning. He does love going to the races ,just not sure he would love two days of it, plus the 7 hours there and back. D.
Dale There is a water park near by, it is called Yellow Duck Park. It is off of rt 46 and is about 10-15 minutes from the track. There is alot of stuff to do around this area, there is plenty of shopping for women that dont want to go to the races for that many days. I know there are some bowling alleys and skate zones for kids too, there is also a couple of putt-putt courses and a small go kart track all in the Boardman-Canfield area.
I haven't figured that one out either, Adam. For me it might make more sense to hit the road first thing Sunday morning. I just don't know. If it was just me coming, I would stay for Sunday and leave Monday.
Hey Denny, thanks man! My wife wants me to ask you to ask your wife if there are any quilt stores in the area. ou:
Thanks Denny. I was just hunting around and found info on that water park on the Youngstown convention & Visiters bureau web site. Looks like it's about mid-way from the Hotel and the track. May rent a cheap car for the rest of the family to have so if they want they can go do thier own thing. Heres a link to the map. The red star is the water park. (Deleted due to technical difficulties) :error:
David I dont think that Renee would even know if there are any of them in the area, she just isnt the shopping type. I am sure there are some around here, but i would have to check with my sister or my mother on that one.
