Those are 72 headlight bezels....also.....never seen a regular split bench in a Buick GS.....all the ones I have see are fold-down armrest seats.
That is the standard bench seat for convertibles in '70 and is correct. Trim code 158 = black vinyl bench, (convertible only). Trim code 178 = black vinyl notch-back bench, Trim code 188 = black vinyl buckets. The convertibles got the waffle pattern vinyl even on the standard interior, while the coupe did not...thus, Trim code 128 = black vinyl bench, (coupe only).
The hood trim he painted black is the Skylark trim, not the GS trim. And there are several other little goofy things, but a real GS455 conv. none the less. But its far away from an impeccable frame off resto. With some TLC and not a lot of dollars after purchase it could be made into a nice car. I guess if somebody could buy it right dollarwise would make it worth it or not.
My GS originally came with a straight bench - trim code 158. An issue corrected the first year I had my car :beer
My 71 has the standard split bench without the arm rest, trim code 134:bla: (not that that is a good thing for me...)ou:
I offered him $30k based on the fact that Jeff Sapp's gold concours convertible sold for under $40k by Fred E. not too long ago. He turned it down, said he would take $47,500. I bet he would, but good luck getting it!:bla: Not sure what the "buy it right" price would be, but I am guessing it ain't gonna happen at that price right now.
Nice looking convert but......... you guys covered most of the issues. I thought the split bench was wrong too but I learn something new from this website again....thanks Jim and Marco for the newly aquired knowledge. Now this is only with the 4-speed convertible cars. right? I know the standard interrior on a 1970 4-speed hardtop BB GS car was a split bench but used the non-waffle material. Lon
I see now the vent is missing for the ac on the left side of passenger side dash pad. Why would someone not put correct unit in frustrating!!!!!!!!
Yeah, tell me about it I owned a triple black 70 GTO Hdtp and it, at times was a sweat box. Manual everything and no A/C. it was a repaint too. Tim
What has the selling price? 30k sounds like all the :dollar: Make sure you put your eyeballs on this one before you fork over the loot .The listing looks like a fluff job to me
