I was thinking of buying another buick and putting a 455 in it.

but i want some high rpm in the 455.

besides the girdle and halo girdle, what would be needed to get the 455 to run up to 8000+ rpm?

or am i setting my goal too high?

You will need a BULLDOG BLOCK.

Thats if "Dick" ever gets them done.

TA performance is making a block that will be able to handle it.
I bet they will have there Buick block done before the bulldog........ :Brow:

The only other way is to put a 540 in your set up. :TU:

Very lite rotating assembly and a very strong block. Then it will rpm that high and stay together. But the real concern is, is it still making power at that rpm? For that you will need cylinder head flow and the right cross sectional area to match the peak rpm you want your HP and torque to be at. When you go for high rpm power, low rpm power suffers. Definitely not for the street.

what would be good for the street?

i would at least like to be able to go in excess of 7k

Why do you want to exceed 7K in a street car?

I've done high 12's on all-season radials, and over 19 MPG in a 4300# daily driven car. And I don't have to go over 5600 RPM to do that. My engine isn't anything special, either.

By the way when I want to fool my friends, I put the tach in to 6-cylinder mode and they all think I'm revving to 8000 RPM (and they believe it because the car pulls like a freight train). Maybe you should just do that.

lol, i was thinking about that just for fun.

i was just thinking, if my engine can rev up to higher RPM, then i can use bigger rear gears, which should speed the car up.

up to an extent, i wouldnt want to run into the 4's because driving a street car with those just sucks.

maybe i should just let the high rpm go until i get a different car (hoping for a camaro, sorry  ive wanted one forever)

so yeah, i guess it will just be mild rebuild then.

after the first engine i dont have cash to throw at my engine.

A 350 Buick with Ported heads and intake, supercharger or turbo, with a billet crank, good rods and pistons.

    Rpm

You'd have to run at least a 4.10 with a real high rpm motor. A high rpm motor will buck and surge trying it cruise at a lower rpm. You'll also be getting maybe 5 mpg. It'd sound cool though :Brow:
