    I don't know much about the 50's cars, but other than making sure it's mechanically sound, you'll want to check to see if the car is complete (parts aren't easy to find), chrome is good (can cost thousands to rechrome everything on those cars), and the body is sound (bodywork/paint ain't cheap either). Others more familiar with those cars can offer more specific advice.

    Good luck,

    UticaGeoff

    $17500 for a '55 Roadmaster should be a very nice 2 door car that needs little if any work.

    or an even nicer 4 door car that is restored to like new.

    in answer to chrome costs;
    nine years ago (2005) I paid $3,000 to get a first class replate on front and rear bumpers

    I agree with both previous posts. Within the last month I was looking at a '55 Special 4 dr ht that was being restored. The owner stated that he had $5,000 in rechroming. I believe that the Roadmaster has even more chrome then the special - if nothing else, it has two more cruiserline ventiports. :grin: Make sure that the rear shocks are good, it can cost a few bucks to get the Houdaille-design shocks rebuilt. Check for significant transmission leaks. The Dynaflow was a strong, reliable gearbox, but the seals are almost 60 years old unless the transmission has been redone. Pulling that Dynaflow and resealing it will be pricey unless you can do it yourself. I love the '55 Buicks - perhaps my favorite year, but pulling a Dynaflow out of one is not my favorite job.

    I missed that in the original post. The AC if factory, would make it a rare car. What body style is it? We know that it's not a convertible.
