My first question to be able to answer the what do you think question is, can you do body work to be able to patch the rust?

$3,500 sounds like a pretty fair price to me, but if you want to restore this thing to it's former non ventilated look, you may want to do some asking around about the cost of patching the rust if you can't do it.

It's just cheaper to buy a rust free car a lot of the time if you have to have the work done.

On the other hand, at $3,500 it's not a bad price if you just want a fun and stylish driver as is.

I got a body guy, he is a family friend and loves to work on these old cars. He will do it dirt cheap during the summer when hes not teaching auto body at the college.

Cool deal. Helps to have friends.
Any chance he can take a look with you?
I don't know these cars well, but I would say that the quarters behind the tires, the floors and around the windows would be the typical places to look.

    Good luck.
