I went to the Dave Morgan suspension seminar with the NE GS/GN club last week, and Tom met me there. And you'd think he was driving a Buick, right?

Wrong. He shows up driving the most beautiful hearse I've ever seen!

I dont know if he's online these days, I know his computer has been down, but I'll leave it up to him to fill you in on the details!

Hey, share some of the suspension tricks you learned.

I have to find the time to sit down and write up my day at Lebanon and all the suspension stuff....

I have a cross country flight on Monday, so there wont be anyone around to bother me and I can write it all up and load it in, probably Tuesday.

BTW, Toms car is really that nice - untouched low miliage original with I think something like 56 factory options. It's also a 421, and I watched him horsing around in the parking lot, it gets up and moves! I love Pontiac for the fact they built a few crazily optioned wagons that are cooler than cool.

When I was a kid, this girl in my class's father raced Formula V, he had a brand new 67 Bonneville wagon with a 428 4 spd, buckets/console/8 lugs, etc...as a tow vehicle. Ultra cool. I've never really seen that same kinda stuff from Chevrolet or Ford

I am aware of a factory Ford Country Squire wagon built with a 427 and a 4 speed. Buckets, console, plus full option load. I have a photo somewhere. Story was the original owner wanted the engine and transmission, but his wife wanted the wagon, thus the compromise. Apparently, Ford did not want to build such a car, but he persisted with his local dealer. Finally, they gave him a name and said "if this guy says Ford will build it, then we will order it."

That guy's name.................Lee Iacocca. This car survives in Michigan today.

    I really like Tom's car.

I saw a factory 1963 4 speed Safari wagon at a local car show here about a month ago. My local friends that own Jet Hot also have one.

Wow! Iacocca'a wagon! Thats a cool find!

I am a huge wagon fan, after my high school "go fast" cars, I drove wagons for the next 20 years - my daily driver is still a wagon. I had 2 71 Sport Wagons, a 76 Custom Cruiser clam-back, a 76 Cutlass Cruiser, and 70 Catalina stripper, and now a Protege5.

Ever damn one a fantastic car but if I had to pick, my first 71 Sportwagon was the best. It ws one of those GM "anomaly" cars that was just faster than it had any right to be.. it gave it's life for mine in a T-Bone crash to the driver's door. Broke every body mount and every piece of glass and bent that car like a banana. That hurt!

A close second was the 76 Custom Cruiser...no HP, all torque, would pull trees out of the ground. When if finally needed so much work (brakes, bushings, etc..), I cut the roof off and drove it "El Camino" style for 2 summers. Unregistered to boot.

I keep going back to the pictures of Tom's car - I love the tailight/gate/quarter/roof stying. It just looks so right!

I like wagons too. My driver is a '05 Dodge Magnum RT. Speaking of odd options - a "friend of a friend" ordered a black '61 Chevy Impala 4 dr with a 283 4bbl, three speed on the column, HD everything, and air conditioning. The dealer would not order it until the guy put 1/3 (non-refundable) down.

A hearse is one of the best automotive bargains around, the funeral homes take very good care of them and sell them because they want a later model, not because they are wore out....and they got plenty of room to stretch out....:Brow::Brow::laugh::laugh:

    sweet looking car!
I love those cars you wouldn't expect to have 4-sp or BB engines.
Hemings Muscle Machines had that 4-dr Ford with the 4-sp, BBF, and factory tach sometime last year.
If I had the cash I'd love to put a manual in my 4-dr or find a decent wagon or another 4-dr with one.
