The 65/6 J truck I picked up recently has a PO installed 3sp on the floor...dunno yet what it is but I want something that has an OD to help out those 4.27 gears on the highway.

Anyone know what will fit behind a 70 Buick 350?

    Welp.......

I run New Process A-833 Overdrives in my Regal. Yeah, Its a Moper built trans, but Chevy trucks used them in the eighties. They Are Cheap Cheap Cheap at swap meets. I still haven't paid more than $90 for one. They came with a Moper bolt patern for awhile and then GM bolt pattern. The Moper patern fits to a Chevy only bell, so avoid that. The GM pattern one will bolt up, BUT, you hafta have the input shaft housing machined down in diameter to fit the hole in the BOP bell. Use socket-headed capsrews (allen head) to bolt the cover back on. I'll take some good pics later on of one of them I have on the floor. They ain't the strongest unit out there, but OD is very nice. I'm now running 3.90s and all is very well.

This is the GM pattern. This one still has the larger diameter input shaft cover. Try to imagine it once its machined down and you'll see why you'll need the allen heads bolts to reattach it. Those stock bolts won't clear the hole in the bell.

Thank you, that looks like the ticket to the highway rpms I am looking for. The Jeep may only see it a couple times a week, but I love the low gears for pulling stumps if needed.

I got to thinking about it...what year trucks might have this tranny? I'm still a 4wd and may need to get the transfer case as well.

They are from the eighties. Dunno the cutoff. The local Advance Auto actually had a book that showed me that, I just can't remember.
