I picked up a set of 15 inch 4-bolt steel wheels with dog dish caps from a board member for my 1962 Skylark. I had to do some weld repair on one wheel so they need repainting. What color would you paint the wheels? Black or Red to match the body color? I will be installing Black side wall tires, a little wider than stock, instead of White side wall tires.

My personal opinion....if the interior of the car is red then paint the rims black. Too much red is just that... too much red. If interior is not red then paint to body color for that stock sleeper look. Getting the reds to match....best of luck. Either scenario will look sharp imo.

Red-my wagon is Red Red and Red, it think it works. Original wheels painted red over black; made them darker.
the red on your wheels looks too bright for my taste.

I voted red - I had my Buick super sport wheels painted fire red to match the exterior paint on my Skylark. I love the look!

I'm gonna say - NICE CAR! My best friend & next door neighbor had a 62 Skylark convertible when we were teenagers. We had a blast with that car. It sounded right with the 215 V8 and the girls dug it because it was a convertible! And I say red wheels but either would look good...

I voted red. In general, cars with poverty caps had wheels painted the color of the car (pretty much the lower half color). Cars with full wheel covers had the wheels painted black. It all depends on what you want. I personally don't think that black would look all that good. It makes me think of all those goofs in their tuners, cutting in and out of traffic like crazed weevils.
