I change the anti-freeze in my 67 every year. I keep "old" stuff to top off my daily drivers. And with my cousin and me, we always are building/repairing a car, so it nevers goes to waste.
Make no mistake, I treat it like poison. Just wondering about it's direct lethality... Just talked to the local Water Treatment folks, they said not to put it down the commode, that they used to handle it that way, but not with the newer water specs. Thankfully, Abilene has a recycling center that takes old car fluids. :TU:
Antifreeze It's poison, all right. My brother has had at least one dog die from drinking the stuff. I had a bucket of Prestone in the garage one winter without a lid. Come spring I found a bat floating in it - apparently it had a taste for the stuff and either died directly or fell in and drowned. There are other, "food grade" non-toxic compounds available that are used for heat transfer fluids in food production facilities. Propylene glycol based rather than the ethylene glycol in regular Prestone etc. I think these so called non toxic products are available if you're worried about having poison around.
