  2. In and effort to reduce the spam on the site, several years ago I had went to a program where I manually approve each and every new registration. This approval gives you full access to the site, to pictures, and to post, among other things. To be able to enjoy the full potential of the board for you, you need to be fully registered.. and that's easy..   3. The "Group Buy" for the 1967-68 Deluxe Steering wheel recasting is now officially "Open". Now is the time to start sending in the wheels. The latest date that the wheels must be received by Kochs is 31 March 2025 The cost for each wheel is $750. The only "up front cost" is your shipping the wheel. If you send in more than one wheel, each additional wheel will cost $700. Shipping and insurance to Kochs and return shipping will be extra. What the!!

    It's the heat riser valve. When working properly it should be closed when cold, which directs the exhaust heat back through the intake manifold to heat the choke coil. As the engine warms up the valve should open and let the exhaust out the manifold on that side. Be sure to check if it's free and not stuck.

    With out a picture I can only speculate, but it's likely there to cause back pressure to put more exhaust heat in the cross over in the intake manifold for the carburetor. Keeps fuel from puddling too much in the intake when the engine is cold.

  5. There seems to be a spring that is broken on it... would that cause it to remain open all the time or closed?

    I believe there is a bi-metalic spring on it that when hot, will open the valve

    They tend to rust and get stuck.
    if your only driving your car in the summer or live in the south, you might have an exhaust shop remove and replace with a straight pipe
