What, the trunk?

So here's the problem, new car has the trunk key missing. Former owner believes that he dropped them while getting something from the trunk and unknowingly shut them in there. He tried a local locksmith, who cut every key he had on the books for the car and couldn't get one to work.
Any suggestions on how to get into the trunk of a 66 lesabre?

    Two ways:

    Bust out the lock

Remove the back seat, really long extension and remove the latch assy. I've done this a few times on the A body's.:Dou:

Find a different locksmith. I have had them custom cut a key for a car I had. It was amazing.

He would take a blank key put it in the lock, take it out file it some. He did this until the key worked. You should be able to find one that can do this.

A locksmith should be able to pick the lock - but I'd first remove the back seat and see if the keys are in there, and disassemble the latch if they weren't.

I just did this on a '66 Wildcat (long way from the back seat to the trunk latch!). Went to Sears, bought a few extensions, took the back seat out as noted, and undid the latch. You should be able to do that in about a 1/2 hour, no problem.

Find someone that knows how to pick a lock. This can be done the wafer tumblers in the old locks are easy to pick.
