Little help here. Working on my brake system. Hard pedal. 1970 GS Stage 1. Replaced the booster and master. Hold off valve and now replacing the distribution block. Tracing the rear line and I see this. Is this a proportion valve that someone has installed?
I was thinking maybe an old line lock solenoid, but I wouldn't know why its on the rear line... Maybe for a hydraulic parking brake?
Disks in front drums in rear. There is a label that is painted over. Going to try to just clean the paint off. I am thinking of some sort of regulator as well. I also have a 12 bolt with toms axels and appear to be Buick brakes.
How big is the tubing on that? Seems bigger than a normal rear brake line.. are there any electrical connections or studs for any?
Found it. Some kind of of dampener, looks like it helps prevent premature rear brake lockup. https://www.lefthanderchassis.com/v2a/16_viewproduct_product.asp?idproduct=005LBS1 Devon
If that was really needed, you think GM would have had it in the system. Maybe poor or too tight of an adjustment on rears led the installer to believe he had a problem....
Thank you for finding that. Now that makes a bit more sense. I wonder if that might impact how I bleed the brakes.
Wonder why the previous owner even put it on there? It appears to have been designed for circle track use. From their catalog: https://images.carid.com/dpi/items/pdf/dpi-product-catalog.pdf
