Our '67 Electra has spent parts-store shocks in it now and we're looking to upgrade. The car rides just a bit too 'floaty' and I'm hoping to add some stability with a decent set of shocks. I've located and ordered a set of KYB's for the rear but have been unsuccessful in my search for a comparable shock for the front. What do you guys suggest? Thanks again, Rick
I use Monroe Sensa-tracs in the front and air shocks in the rear of my 71 Riv and I am extremely happy with them. I also added polyurethane sway bar bushings and end links and the car handles great.
Even though the KYB catalog doesn't list anything for the '70-earlier big Buicks, I'd bet that their KG4515 Gas-a-Just would work - It shows that shock for the later Buicks, and for every other fullsize GM car from about '65 up. My nickel bet is that KYB simply hasn't taken the time to either confirm fitment and/or put it in their catalog. I'd head down to my local parts house and have them pull a front shock for your car and then a '71 fullsize, and compare the mounts and lengths. (I'll bet they're the same.) btw, I've got that shock on the front of my '71 LeSabre and LOVE it!
Thanks for the responses, guys. I was about to get the SensaTracs but first I think I'll investigate the KYB possibility. :beer
