Anyone have an idea of what BODIES to use for the HURST handles? They don't have to be the original ones, just ones that the handles can fit into... I have a corvette shifter that MAY work, but...:Do No:

George you can drill the handle to use it on a new Hurst competition plus shifter body but I have been told by a guy that rebuilds shifters for a living that they are nowhere near the shifter that the originals were.
Some of the late 60's or so Olds shifters for sure used the same mounting style as the Buicks. There may be others as well.

You want a 3138 stamped Hurst shifer body with the straight-up shifter arm. Olds & Pontiac used some 3138 shifter bodies with offset arms.

Factory installed Hurst shifters used a bayonet mounted handle, and rubber bushings to attach the arms.

Aftermarket Hurst shifters used bolt on sticks and nylon bushings.

The issue you run into is that the aftermarket shifters do not fit console cars with some modifications.
