I think I fried a wire this week, and want to upgrade to a better - performance oriented wire. What would you recommend, and where do I get them?:TU:
im very happy with my accel 300+ wires. they about 60 bucks for a set and you have to make them yourself but they are black and fit in the factory wire looms so they look sort of stock. i get be from jegs, summit or local speed shops.
Adam, Use the MSD 8.5mm super conductor wire. They have 40-50 ohms per foot. The part # 31373 is for a 69-74 BB Chebby, but they fit great on my 455. 69.99 from Jegs, part # 121-31373, and they are black in color with grey boots.
Thanks gents... I went ahead and ordered the MSD's that Larry suggested. Next time I'll try the Spiral cores. I have heard you talk about them in the past, Bill. I'm in kind of a hurry to get this thing running right, so I ran for the nearest solution....and Larry was first. I don't know what I would do without this board! I guess I would be at the Zone buying more cheapo plug wires.:error:
Also spiral core design. I have them on my 86 Regal 307. Spiral core wires are vastly better than the carbon core garbage. They last a long time.
MSD 8.5 are great wires. I ran them with points then just recently opened up the box again to change the ends for HEI. No problems for the past 3 years. look like new, and they are red so they look real cool on a Buick.
My only complaint about the 9mm Accel wires (other than the color, which I can live with) is that the 9mm wires don't like the factory wire looms on my engine
As Joe said earlier, the Accel 300+ wires are very good! I think they are a good deal, as they are premium wires at a reasonable price. I use them also. Brian :beer
Taylor "409" Spiral Pro Race Wire. Those fat blue wires look good against Buick Red. 135* boots work well with headers. Jeff
