425 Dual Quad Restoring 65 'Lark - help

    Guys,

    Hope you can help!
What month did the model years start in '65/'66? Was August 1965 the start of the 66 model year or did it run claendar to calendar at that time.

The reason I need to know is I want to paint my LX code 425 dual quad Nailhead the correct colour. The engine is currently a dull red but it is in the UK so who knows what it could have been painted in previous lives. I can't see any green but I've not looked that hard [and it's in the machine shop waiting for pistons before being bored so I can't get to it].

I've also put a what colour engine post on a week or so ago and the overwhelming response was GREEN GREEN GREEN GREEN and GREEN!!! However I'm wondering if the correct is red since the GS's for '65 were green and for '66 were red. I'm wondering if I'm on the changeover or the run up to the '66 model year production.

The engine number cast into the back end of the block are:
    CM then a M 8 on it's side [I think it's an M] and below B - 1364704 10 .
Stamped into the front end of the box are: L X235 5H915543

    Many thanks all

    best regards
    Nick :)

    Answer

    Hi all,

I just found out from Ted that since it's an L X engine it's definitely a '65 engine. If it were a '66 it would be an M X engine. :Dou:

So it therefore has to be GREEN GREEN GREEN GREEN GREEN GREEN !!!!

    cheers all!
