What is a 69 GS 400 worth?

Today I looked at a 69 GS 400 Hdtp 4spd. The car has been stripped of everything and all of the parts are stored in a building. The body and frame are sitting outside. Floors and trunk are solid but will need quarters. He says that it is all numbers matching and the motor had been recently gone through. It was a blue car with black vinyl top and black interior with buckets. It also has a posi with 4:11 gears and disc brakes. I have to go back on Sunday to look at all of the parts. The vin # checked out as being the real thing. Just looking for a rough price range to work with. :Do No:

    Neat combination

A couple of grand in parts if nothing else. Is the grille nice?

Have not seen the grille or the other parts yet. I will bring my digital when I go.

    Thanks

Yes, make sure the grille is indeed a GS grille. If you are a 4 speed guy check to see that it is a factory car. Serial numbers on muncie and a 4 speed speedo are good indications of this. As for the value I guess it depends on how much work and time you are willing to put into it. I guess around 2K if all there and correct.

The posi and disc brakes setups alone are worth at least $100. Let me know where to send the check.

Quarter skins are readily available for 69's, but the wheel well is not, be sure it's solid if not your looking at hand fabbing new ones ($$$). Also check the underside of the rear window from inside the trunk to be sure it's not rotted out (most are especially with vinyl tops).
There's no way your going to be able to verify if all the parts are there, and it's the little stuff that will kill you, for a disassembled car like that I wouldn't give more than $1200-$1500 and that's here in SoCal. A running version of that car needing new quarters wouldn't draw more than $3000.
"Recently gone through" motors are a red flag with me, I bought my car and the guy had the receipts for all the motor work ($3200 worth), 3 months later it was out of the car and disassembled, the machine work was totally hacked and I ended up spending $4000 that I'd budgeted for something else.
    Be careful.
