What goes between the brake release and the wiper switch?

    Car is a 56 Special.

I have a hole where there should be something. In between the wiper switch and the parking brake release is a hole, and I have no idea what should be there. Looking at some pics I found on the Net, it appears to be some sort of indicator light, but I haven't a clue what.

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

The hole was used for the power antenna switch...good place to put a starter button if the original starting system is inoperative.

It could also be the optional rear speaker switch. I recently pulled one for a customer and I've attached a picture of what the dash looks like with the hole for the rear speaker switch.

Mike, shame you aren't closer, I discovered today that my trans is stuck in gear and that the rear end is toast.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I can send you a ring and pinion if that is all you need for the rear end.

I'm thinking it's the parking brake light. If I remember right mine is red with a chrome outer ring.

It is the Parking Brake light. Lets you know when the parking brake is engaged.
