I have a guy selling me a 4 speed or 5 speed i think. not sure but the trans says hays in the bellhousing. also has the svte 6 11 93 numbers on the bellhousing. does 400 sound reasonable..will it withstand behind the 455. also what are the mods you have to make to make it work behind the buick skylark
thats what i figured..any ideas on the numbers it says..also what does hays mean.is it a brand...or is the bellhousing just hays brand.
if its an LT1 vette its a 6 speed, if its tune port its a 4+3 which is a super T10 with and electric overdrive hanging off the back...it wont take alot of torque.. LT1 6 speeds are a hot ticket, never have i seen one for less than 700 average is about 1000 LS1 6 speeds are 1000 to 1200...i dont remeber what year the vet went to a LT1
i just took a look at the transmission for the first time in person, it looks exactly like the one on ebay if i remember right it was an lt1 that was super built by what the owner said.. now the tranny itself in the bell housing it said hays and on the main case it had another name, and was not factory stamping, cant remember. also noticed in the rear it had a shift linkage kickdown cable. would it be considered a good deal 400 plus trade for some parts i got. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/89-9...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
I would NOT use that tranny in the ebay link...its not a t56 is a truck transmission that was adapted to a car by GM til they came out with the t56, are you sure you know what your looking at? Its HUGE...and thats why noone is swapping that trans into an A-body, i think your confused...you dont have enough room in the trans tunnel for it you have to cut the hump up and cut the floor pan up to use it..not worth it..you need to so some more research...400 plus trade? trade what? why is the trans so cheap? last i saw those where 1200 plus..whats wrong with it?... you need to post clear pics of the part your trying to buy, not ebay linbks and we can help you thru it. Hays is a scattershield not a transmisssion.
yep, it is a a scatter shield, and it is stamped on the clutch housing.. and yes it is off a corvette...the reason its so cheap its because its from a friend..now its just 400 no trade...sounds like a good deal to me to just get and resell. i know i will not c me putting it in my car and having to cut the floor...so guess thats out of the question.. thanks everyone.
