I am almost finshed with the body work restoring the back panel on my 72. I have a couple days more to go until I put my rear windshield back in place.

I have put a few windows in over the years and always used the black sticky stuff that comes on the roll. I forget the name of the stuff.

If I use the black sticky stuff. What size should I use?

    What do you use?

    Thank you,
    Bob

i would suggest urethane for the front & butyl tape/ribbon for the rear.

If possible, check for leaks after installation...before installing trim.

Can you mix the urethane with the butyl to make sure it does not leak?

If you do not use the 3/8 butyl your trim will not fit correctly. I had a "professional " installer that tried it and he could not get the trim to fit around the front windshield. His boss came out the next day and resealed it using the butyl and its perfect. If you want to try a layer of the urethane but use a small brush to lay it down like seam sealer. Careful not to make it too thick.

I was thinking about how I would line the window up with the urethane.

I think I will go with the 3/8 butyl.

Hopefully it will warm up again :spank:

I am also waiting on the window clips

    Thanks for the help.

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

The glass will lay in the rear window opening with approx 1/2-3/4" space around it. If you set it on the rubber "set blocks" in the bottom channel...the butyl tape comes with 2 of them..........then have an assistant help you set the glass on the blocks and then move it left or right to maintain the proper gap all around the glass.

My friend just called and said he was going to take the day off tomorrow.

The weather is going to be perfect (mid 60's)

The only this is the window trim clips did not show up :af: :af:

I just checked the delivery confirmation number and it says they were delivered this morning :af: :af:

    I don't have them :af:

Anyway, Can I put the clips on after the window is in place??

    Thank you,
    Bob

No, it will be a royal pain if not impossible to install them later. Wait and install the clips first.
