Looking at redoing my interior on my 71 Skylark. I am new to the classic car thing, especially Buicks. My car doesn't have the original exterior color, but does have the original sandalwood interior color. My question is. Did different year Skylarks sandalwood interiors have different shades? I googled image Buick sandalwood interior and got different results. I like this color I found, says it is sandalwood but it darker then mine. Attached is a pic.
Keith is exactly correct. That is saddle. Sandalwood is much lighter and has a green tinge to it. The dash pads (and other dark parts) are almost olive in color.
I have posted a pic of my interior before and was told it was sandalwood, but then I run across pics that say otherwise. When I redo it, I don't care if its correct, to me sandalwood is to light of color for me, easy to stain. I am not always the cleanest person. LOL!
It appears that your interior has probably been Redone, what does your trim code indicate? The light color doesn't look quite right for sandalwood and the accents such as the seatbelt retractor are definitely saddle.
Over the years, Sandalwood evolved from a light tan to an almost light green in hue. The "trim" parts also evolved from a medium brown to an olive green color. Later years were more green, earlier years more brown. It's a moving target, so to speak. I believe your interior is Sandalwood, albeit with the more brown trim parts.
That looks more like Saddle than Sandalwood. Pictures below are from my 1971 Color & Trim book. I took them with a cell phone so there is a little bit of a shadow and everything looks a little darker than in real life. The interior shot in your first post is too dark and too brown to be Sandalwood. The color in your photo might be Burnished Saddle from 1970 instead of Sandalwood from '71, not sure.
The only upholstery options for that style seat in a Skylark in 1971 would have been Green, Sandalwood (shown in your picture), and Black.
Can you help with my interior color? I have a 1970 Skylark. My numbers off the plate read: 70-43537 179 Thanks for your help.
"hubbard316": Please put your name in your signature, we are all here on a friendly first name base :TU: And don't forget to introduce yourself (and your Buick) in the Wet behind the ears?? section of the board :Smarty: For model year 1970 43537 is a Skylark 350 2 drs hardtop coupe "Regular" Skylark 2 drs is 43327 179 = Burnished Saddle vinyl.
71-72 saddle is actually called dark saddle at least on the custom interiors like shown by the original poster.
