There's a '70 GS ragtop that I have seen a few times in the city. It's dark green with a tan top. I know it's a rare car so when I saw it parked, I jumped at the chance to look closely. First red flag were the GS badges that were ill-placed. They were also GS 350 badges, which are wrong. Then I noticed the Skylark badges on the rear fenders. A quick check at the VIN shows that it's a '72. So does anyone know what 4h67j2 means? Is it still a GS? Or is it impossible to tell unless it's a 455?
Diego, 4h67j2 4 = Buick H = Skylark Custom 67 = Convertible J = 350 4 bbl 2 = Modelyear 1972 So it's not a GS, but being one of only 3608 Skylark convertibles, it's pretty special. 1972 GS Convertible production total: 852 only.
I don't mind too much when someone puts a GS badge on something that isn't really a GS, but what really kills me is when they don't even put it in the right spot on the fender. One skylark running around here the guy has them way up high on both fenders and it looks really stupid. I hate that!:spank:
I know what you mean. If it's not where you're used to seeing it, it looks stupid. In fact, in the latest Musclecar Enthusiast, there's a LS6 Chevelle ragtop with this problem. You'd think that such a high-$$$ car would deserve a better fate.
