Well...that would be about 370hp and about 425ft/lbs. The 1970 Stage 1 455 made 376hp and 510ft/lbs., so anything more than that would be quite an improvement!! That engine had a true 9.6:1 compression, even though it was rated higher.

A cam such as the TA 212 would more than meet your needs - it would have a definite 'lopey' idle though. If you're looking for good power, but with a 'tamer' idle, you might look at the TA 112 cam.

Make sure your valve springs match the cam you pick!

I believe that's still an attainable goal with a 350"!! Not as easy as a 455 of course!:Brow:

    TA Cam Table

I don't know if you can get the TA 292-02H or the TA 288-98H in a 350 grind, but they look like some pretty stout cams for a real 'bruiser' of a 350.

The 350 really needs a good spread on the exhaust duration numbers(compared to the intakes). Both of the above cams have a 15* spread(favoring the exh.). Something like the TA 310 or the TA 413 may work well too!

    Things to consider:
    • TA 350 Stage 1 intake - BEST intake available
    • Headers (TA mandrel bent 2.5" full exhuast too)
    • 9.5-9.8:1 compression (should be able to run pump gas still)
    • GOOD headwork - w/larger SS TA valves & springs
    • good carb (750-800cfm)
    • excellent distributor like this
    • address the cam bearing and oiling 'issues'
**Those cams above 'may' be a little too wild for some people's tastes. Several guys on board have had good results with the smaller TA 212. I think Mike Atwood has posted several Desktop Dyno charts with various 350 cams - you might want to do a search.

Hope this gets you headed in the right direction. You can always call guys like Jim Burek or Mike (TA) and get their recommendations.
