As my interior restoration progresses, I will need what I would best describe as "seatbelt grommets". From the picture below, could anyone tell me what the Buick part name is? Any clue as to who reproduces them? They are simply a flat plastic tube with a face that screws to the back of the seat, and the seatbelt goes through it. I think they invented these so non-seatbelt equipped seats would not need to be redesigned, only a slit cut in the back fabric and this grommet put on to disguise the non-precision cut. Anyone in the know on this part?
Here is a really stupid question... have you considered a junk yard? They may be hard to find, and some places wouldn't want you taking stuff off a good seat, but its a thought.
They do not exist in the parts car. Someone changed out the seatbelts, and I guess those went away with the old belts. Maybe the car never had belts and the newer ones were retrofitted without the aid of the grommet. o No: I've seen them on at least two other cars, so I believe they are factory. I was just hoping something like '64 Camaros or GTOs used them so someone would be reproducing them. :ball:
Local yard has a 67 LeSabre. Would it have the same style? I will be at the yard on Sat to get parts from it. Let me know if you can send me a pic of your originals. Send pics to GStage1@buickperformance.com
Here is a collage of what the grommet looks like in various states of installation. The upholstery shop thinks they may be able to come up with something close.
Your not gonna believe this, but I believe that I may actually have a set from a bench seat Skylark I parted out. You could have them for the shipping. I'll try and take a pic of them and post it here in the next day or so.
Phillip, Thanks so much for taking a picture. Unfortunately, I am looking for some that match exactly. Hopefully someone else will scoop those up from you. :TU:
