I have an Original 70 GS 455 Stage-1 Convertible.. undergoing a Stock, Frame-Off Restoration. Frame and Body are done except Paint. Engine and Transmission are almost Restored. I have WG Wheels and scalloped wheel well Trim. That being said,... I am considering using Drop Spindles, on Front axle...but don't know if there would be enough Clearance, for the Wheels to function, without rubbing or touching..!!! Does anyone have any Ideas on this...I would think someone has tried this before. Jim Jaeger
I have the Std 70 WG style rims on my X-Camino but with the non-scalloped front moldings. Every time I would hit a bump taking a tight turn the wheels would try to rip the moldings off the car. I understand you have the scalloped trims, but even with that set up your tires will hit if you do the same as the above. Also if you drop the front end do not even try to put on a front spoiler. They barely had enough clearance with the regular spindles, and going over any type of speed bump is a challenge. Duane
And if you lower the front of the car, don't run headers, especially MT's, they will scrape quite often.
Everything will be Stock, when it's Completed... This has been a Very Long-Term Project. My Wife named the Car,...***Christine*** after the Stephen King Movie...!!! Because it's her Nightmare...!!! Thanks, Jim Jaeger USMC, Retired
