I notice that many of the racers on this board run Weld wheels. Is it because they are much lighter than "other" wheels?:Do No:

Yes Paul, they are incredibly light, strong and fairly inexpensive.
Only complaint I had is they "tick" when turning. Heard a few other Weld owners who had the same complaint. Someone said it had to do with the design having two halves sandwiching an aluminum biscuit inside the center. All I know is I didn't care for the noise.

    brblx clueless

my cragars (steel) have two thin parts sandwiching a thick metal piece around the lugs, as well. made it a pain to find lug nuts with the huge shank needed, but i havn't gotten the clicking.:Do No:

    Madcat455 Need..more... AMMO!!!

The wheels shouldn't "Click".. the tourque of the lugnut applies pressure and snadwhitches the inner part between the two halves.... the only time I have ever heard them click is when they were off the car... If they are clicking on the car I'd be worried about them being loose or if they are tourqued properly then Id check the length of the lug nut to make sure its not passing all the way through the wheel and hitting the drum or rotor... and not too short to be bottoming out inside the lug.... very pickey setup.. but very nice.

Oh... I never had any probs with my 15x10 draglites clicking either. I will get some in the future as I haven't seen any wheels lighter (except for the centerline's of comparabile design)

I had a friend who had the Street Pro wheels(steel version of aluminum Ultra Light) and he said he never had a problem. Funny, when I called Cragar to ask about the wheels ticking, he told me they're racing wheels and no meant for the street! Well, they only ticked when turning ,so maybe he was correct :Dou:

Jeff, I'm assuming you didn't have the 15x10 wheels on the front.Only my front wheels ticked when turning and I went through the proper torque/correct tightening sequence the manufacturer recommended. Also checked the lug shank length, but never did find a way to stop the noise.
Funny thing happened at the Nats one time is I heard the same ticking from a GN that was pulling into a parking spot. Sure enough, he had the same wheels as me and I asked if it was the wheels ticking and he said yes, they had always done that. He told me rather matter of factly, "All Welds do that".....:Dou:
Who knows, I'm glad yours don't make noise. I finally took mine off as I couldn't stand it anymore.
