After experiencing a no-start situation the other day I narrowed down the problem to the fuel pump and so I ordered a stock replacement from Checker (only $17 compared to the $175 that it cost my girlfriend for one for her :blast: '98 Ford which caused her to go into a lengthy tyraid about how big a rip off new cars/parts are --I just said :moonu: ) and installed it along with a new fuel filter and fuel pressure gauge that I got from Summitt. Now, although the car starts and runs fine, my pressure gauge reads 12 psi at cold startup and 3-4 psi once the engine is warm--for being a stock type pump the 12 psi is obviously way too high and I could be wrong but the fuel pressure should stay constant whether the engine is warm or cold right? Is this just a problem with the gauge or should I look at getting another pump?
Note: In the box for the new pump was a little slip of paper stating that some Buick 350's use one type of pump arm and others use a different one--first of all, my old pump's arm did match the new one's and second, why is that? The two arms in the picture look so radically different I don't know how the two could work in the same engine :puzzled: ?
