I HAVE 70 GS,3800 LBS,IM RUNNING A S/P 400, 3000 STALL,3.73 GEARS, ENGINE IS 11 TO 1 COMP. 113A CAM, S DIVIDER, 1 IN SPACER, STREET STRIP QJET, 1 7/8 HEADERS, 2 1/2 M/B EXHAUST. ECT.... I THINK I HAVE THE HORSE POWER, I HAVE RUN THE BEST OF 12.5 WITH A .334 REACTION AT 109 MPH BUT MY 60' ARE 1.85 TO 1.9. MY BIG QUESTION IS HOW DO YOU LAUNCH THAT SWITCH PITCH? I BEEN TOLD TO LAUNCH AT IDLE AND TURN OFF AT ABOUT 60', OR TO LAUNCH AT THE HIGHEST RPM I CAN, ALSO MY REAR SUSPENTION IS ALL STOCK, AND USE 10.5 X 27 QUICK TIME PROS.AT 12 PSI AND STILL SPIN A LITTLE BUT THE BACK RIGHT SQUATS PRETTY GOOD.

I think it high time you started thinking about upgrading your suspension system!!

As far as the 60' times with the switch-pitch, experimentation and really good record keeping is the BEST advice I've ever heard..

Start from your baseline and vary your launches from there. Write everything down. Good luck, and keep at least two tires on the ground at all times!!:Brow:

If you don't already have it ,put an air bag in the pass.side rear spring. I would start with about 15 psi. and work from there.Your car does need suspension tunning the airbag is the 1st.step and probably the cheapest. You'll probably have to by a set, they don't sell single bags.Install both sides and set the drivers side at 5 psi. and experiment from there.Make sure you run two seperate lines, one to each bag,for tunning.::Smarty:
P.S. You are goin to need slicks at the track for the best Performance

I run a very similar engine combo. I'm running a th400 with an 11", 2500 stall converter. I think the stall is closer to 2000 though. My best 60' to date is 1.73, and I'm usually in the 1.75 to 1.79 range. I put boxed lower and adj. uppers with pinion angle set at about -3 degrees. I experience no wheel hop, but do run 26" x 10" ET Drags. I can launch at about 1300-1400, after that the brakes won't hold the car/engine.

I am getting a new converter, 9.5" with 3200 stall. The manufacturer guarantees I'll knock two tenths off my ET and at least a tenth of my 60'. We'll see in a week or two.

I did put the air bags on my car. Mostly to control bounce on the road as I run 325/50 DragRadials on the street. I do put 5 lbs. in the driver's side and about 15 lbs. in the passenger side. You can mount the ends of the lines in the slots next to the gas tank filler. It's perfect and hidden from view. Just to be sure I also put a piece of old rubber mud flap on top of the air bags to keep them from getting punctured by the spring perch. Bottom is protected by piece that comes with the bags.

    Good luck.

    Whose Converter?

    Stock..

    Kenne-Bell..

    Poston..

It's not mine, unless you bought Gary Fanning's.. but I think he still has his on the shelf, hoping to work out his trans problems someday. All my other converters are accounted for..

    What diameter? 12" or 13"
