I know there's no Sloan info available for 1971, but I heard that Wayne Roberts can document a '71. Is this correct? Donny
Incorrect unless there is some recent development. That misunderstanding I think comes from the fact that his records for 70 models go into the 70 year.
The records were available at one time but may have been thrown out in the trash when GM cleaned house. Many of the documents were saved by the Sloan Museum and what they did not get in time went into the dumpster or home with the workers...... They still may be out there.........
I kinda figured that would be the case. Although it would be nice to have, it's not essential for this particular car. Fortunately it has the matching numbers TS motor and OW tranny.
Wasn't there a fire or something? Also - many records are not required to be saved beyond certain regulatory requirements. Back then, probably nobody thought there would ever be any interest in this stuff, much like the highly coveted build sheets that "randomly" found there way into the cars themselves. K
If I'm not mistaken, the "fire" was at a Turbo Hydramatic plant, and the reason for "OW" transmisions in Buicks. There have been rumours that someone DOES have the 71 micro film, but has not been forthcoming...
