I realize that the parts are not correct. I need them to customize for a use on a 70 wildcat. Plan on cutting up the spoiler and refabbing it to work. The goal is to give the wildcat the appearance of a GSX. Here is a pic of the car as it looked a few weeks go at the body shop.

You can make some rubber wedges and shave them to perhaps bring the position of the sport mirrors back to vertical. You can get a set of thicker ones from www.classiccarinteriors.com.

That looks like a real rust free car. It is apparent that you have done a lot of work.

only rust on car is on lower front qtrs, the size of a quarter.

its been a long process, complete frame off restomod.

I see these on ebay all the time.
Don't have current link but do a parts search for 70 - 72 Skylark.
Make sure you post some pics when it's done.

The mirrors for the '71-72 GS cars were the same as the '71-72 Olds F-85 mirrors. The BPG LINK states this. My mirrors are from a junk yard '71 Grand Prix, and they have the same casting numbers as those shown in the BPG link. So this gives you another option. I will check with an Olds guy here in CMH and see if he has them.

I have a pair of sport mirrors that will work on your car. The ones that I have are from a Z-28 [I think] and with a little belt sanding of the base of the mirrors and some grinding down of the mirror bracket they will fit just fine. I already belt sanded my other pair of mirrors for my gsx clone and it looks great. However, I don't have the gaskets and mirror hold down brackets. They are available from yearone. $80.00 bucks plus shipping and their yours.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Bob 215-990-3030 (the mirrors have the remote drivers adjustment knob w/door panel bezel)

    John,
You are trying to install pieces that were never designed to fit your car. Every different body style has a different door skin angle where the mirrors bolt on, therefore no matter which mirror you start out with it will probably require some modification to fit correctly on your door. This is just simple common sense.

I have a pair of NOS mirrors that are the later ones if your interested I can send pics . These have a different angle on the bases but like was mentioned you can make a wedge to mount them , Drivers remote .

You stated that you were going to 'customized them'. The angle of the mirrors that you want will not work unless you customize them. ~~~~~~~~~~~Bob

Yes bob, I did say that, because that is what everyone told me. A comparison of some pics of a GSX door top to my wildcats door, with my bodyshop guy present, we later determined that it would be a direct bolt on with no mods needed.

here is a link to the pics that were used for comparison:

I just don't want to mess around with refabbing something that don't have to when I can just get the right one part from the start. :Do No:

I was wondering what colors GSX theme you're going with. I'm hoping it is not QQ or 10-10. There are so many other options since it's a custom. But it's your car, do what you want. It's a big car, so something different might be interesting.

An idea would be black with bittersweet mist stripes and gold accent stripes. I've never seen it before, something new would be cool.

The mirrors you want will cost you 4 to 5 times the amount to purchase. I already know because I've spent many hours searching and asking about the '70-'72 mirrors. ~~~~~~~~~~~I'll be here when you need them. ~~~~~~~~~~~~Bob P.S.[I'll even belt sand them for an extra $20 bucks]:idea2:

Bob, thanks, I will keep u in mind when it comes down to it in the end.:beer

Duane, good info in those articles :TU:

Mike, I'm not sure on those color codes, but Id guess QQ is Yellow w/ black and 10-10 is white w/black? :Do No: But NO I do not plan on either color scheme. I was actually kicking around the idea of a color shifting orange w/ black gsx stripes, a month before I saw this car in a mag. It figures. But I haven't decided on final colors yet. You got a link to where I could find this bittersweet mist color you talk about?
