    Hi,

Pulled the tranny from my '68 Skylark (with console shift) to rebuild and find out why it would not engage in Park.

The parking brake pawl is the culprit (chipped).

Any suggestions as to where I can get a replacement, or better yet, anyone on the board have one they would like to sell??????

    Thanks, Mark

    Thanks Doug,

Unfortunately I'm the messenger on this. It's my buddy who is doing the work and he's 3 hrs from me. I'll try to get you a good description (or even better a pic if I can!! ) of the part ASAP.............Mark

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

The pawl looks like a rooster's comb (part on top of the rooster's head) and acts like a ratchet. Once you remove the pan, you will sit it attached to the gear selector input shaft. You can't miss it.

    Doug,
Are you still interested?? If so, in addition to the pawl itself I've been told that we need the linkage spring and "bullet nose" that are part of the pawl assembly.

Please let me know.......I'll email you as well.

    Thanks, Mark
