The ONLY spoiler I have left was cut down to the 70 style (not 71-72 style) and has imperfections. The mold was not clamped down tightly when it was injected so some of the material leaked out creating depressions. The best description I can put to this is they basically look like "river channels". I don't believe there is any type of structural integrity issues, but it would require some work, as in filling and painting, to make look good. If I remember correctly the majority of them are on the bottom, but there are also some on the front leading edge. The spoiler does have all the screw hole locations drilled, as well as the access hole needed to mount it to the core support. The problem with installing it on a 71-72 car is this, the center mount hole on a 70 gets screwed to the hood latch assembly, while the 71-72 units get screwed only to the core support. You would need to alter the baffle accordingly and I am not sure that you could mount it to a 71-72 hood latch assembly without using some type of spacer. I kept it as an extra for my personal cars, and could make it look perfect if needed, but I am not willing to do all that labor unless I need it for my cars. Now, I have no problem with selling it at a reduced price, but the problem is the shipping cost to you would probably be in the $70+ dollar range, due to the size of the box and your distance from me. If you are interested let me know, and I can get a few pics. Also the spoiler has been put in storage so it will take me a few days to dig out so don't expect the pics right away. Thats the best I can do. Duane
I have one of Duane's 71-72 spoilers. Never used, still wrapped up from when purchased from him. Worth $300?
Duane is the mold kaput? Making anymore down the road? Sadly the one I bought from you perished in the great garage fire I had.:ball:
Jamie, Yeah I saw pics of your fire. The spoiler probably added a little fuel to it. I don't know if the mold is quite "kaput" yet but I am. Way too many things going on right now to even think about starting that up again. They are such a PITA to ship. Duane
Alan, I'm up for "re-pet".:laugh::laugh: But who would want to deal with a younger version of me? I can still piss off tons of people at my age. Best you guys deal with that after I'm gone. Duane
Way too many things going on right now..................."How about mirror gaskets.. any plans for those?" See what I mean. I will check into that, but the steering wheels come first. I have too much money sitting around in cores and labor with them. But who would want to deal with a younger version of me? I can still piss off tons of people at my age. "At least one customer ... Mrs. Duane" You could get odds on that one. Why do you think she didn't want to have kids. real82it, Let me know if the deal with John goes thru, or if you are interested in my spoiler. It appears I now have people waiting in line for it. Duane
OK, I finally got some pics of the 70 spoiler. You can see the depressions on the leading edge and underneath the spoiler. To repair this you would need to fill in the depessions and paint the entire thing black. If you sanded it right and followed the striations in the part, it should look real correct when done. gmcfamily gets the first shot as he asked about the part first. The part is $175 plus shipping and is located outside the Philadelphia area. Duane
Jamie, I have already e-mailed the pics to him so we will see. The problem with these is the cost of shipping. I pad them real well and the box is the biggest UPS will send. I used to have the guys pick them up at the car shows to save on shipping. No sense making someone else rich. I will let you know. Thanks Duane
