Hey Guys-This Car is off for paint (on trailer below heading off to restorer) and the motor is out with a complete rebuild scheduled. This 1964 Wildcat 4-speed car came with a single 4-barrel and I'd like to upgrade to "Super Wildcat" status :TU: If anyone has a complete dual quad setup, that has either been restored already or needs restoration, please let me know. Thanks, Matt-
Matt: I have a complete set up. Details here: http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?295854-Complete-401-425-Nailhead-2x4-setup Please EMAIL me (not PM) at BuickGS65 at gmail if you're interested. Cheers,
Dan- Thank you for the quick response. I'd like to find a setup that's in something north of "very rough" condition. Very much appreciated though!!! Still looking folks ray: Matt-
Matt: I need to correct your reply above. Yes, the carbs are rough - that's all. They are also extremely rare. The rest of the set up is not "very rough", in fact, most of the parts are NEW, so to use a blanket statment of "very rough" to categorize the entire setup is simply false. Intake (hot tanked & painted - ready to bolt on) Air cleaner (nice base, lid is rusty but solid) Fuel lines (brand new Bill Burton repros - no longer made?) Power brake line (brand new Bill Burton repro - no longer made?) Kickdown switch bracket (brand new Dick Sweeney repro - no longer made?) Linkage (brand new Jon Thompson repro) Air cleaner nut (brand new Jerry Salley repro) "Super Wildcat" air cleaner decal (brand new correct metal Patrick Alston repro - this is NOT a vinyl decal) Good luck on your search.
Sorry if I offended you. I was using your verbiage. I wish you the very best too and thank you again for the prompt response. For anyone else that might have a complete set up, and I realize this might take time, you can either reach me on PM or through this thread by posting. By no means do I intend to put anyone off by the words selected. Thanks!
Hey Matt.... If you happen to come across a 2x4 intake, I have a set of Edelbrock 500 CFM FRONT AND REAR carbs for a 401/425 nailhead. Of course these are not factory original equipment, but may work for ya till you can gather the right carbs :Brow: .....just say'n. Wheelz, Tampa Bay
I have the manifold and carbs, no air cleaner. Can get it out for pictures and pricing if you are willing to consider other than a complete setup.
Yes I would consider piecing it together for right parts. Please send me details either through PM or here in the link. Thank you.
Here's some pictures. The manifold and carbs numbers are all for 1964: manifold 1357106, carbs 3645S AJ3 and 3646 AK3. No apparent issues with the carbs----bolt in on and run? Linkage and fuel line are there too. I'll PM you more info.
Hey Guys- I found a set up so no longer looking. It came off a 64 Riviera that has ~11K miles! Thank you to everyone who responded, provided guidance, teaching, and recommendations. This board is awesome! Here are a couple pictures of the setup I just purchased (below). Thanks, Matt-
Don't forget you will need the distributor as well. It is not the same as your single 4 barrel distributor.
Hey Guys, Thanks for the compliments and agreed on distributor. The one I havr can't be used as is. I will be running the same distributor, that ran on the single 4-barrel, but it will need to be "recurved" to the dual quad specs. As for where I found this... lucked out and found through an old post online. Thanks again, Matt-
Re: Wanted - Complete 1964 Buick Dual Quad Set-up (Still Looking) Hey Guys- After receiving the carburetors and having them sent off for restoration I've learned that the set that I purchased are not able to be rebuilt. As good as the photos are (provided before sale) what wasn't seen is evident are some terminal flaws. The front was "ok" and rebuildable, but the rear had been dropped with JB Weld applied to "shade tree" fix the crack (which was considerable). Needless to say the seller was not aware of this, he asserts he wasn't and I believe him, and he (the seller) is being very good with me to make things right. Thank goodness. So... this has me starting back at scratch. I have the air cleaner but I am looking for a complete set otherwise. I could do without the manifold (my engine builder has a hand-full in stock) but I need the rest (would take manifold though if yours is real nice). I'm adamant about wanting a very good set of matching dated coded carburetors correct for a 1964. I will be having them rebuilt (and re-plated) professionally but very much would like an unmolested set that for sure does not include JB Weld. Ideally a carburetor set that hasn't been torn into before. The single 4 barrel (manual transmission carb) that is correct for the car is dated AK3 ('63) and to keep close to that is my desire (knowing I have a range of date options in that late '63 to '64 time span). I'm aware that finding a manual rear carb is a tough ask so open for sure to auto configurations that I can modify for my use. Anyway if you have a set up that you're interested in parting with please PM me. Thanks, Matt-
Sorry if I wasn't clear in my post... I'm buying not selling. I need the parts mentioned above. Thanks!
I know you are still looking, however, since you just bought a manifold and carbs, this is the comment that threw me off... "I could do without the manifold"... thinking you would have an extra... my bad! ou: Wheelz, Tampa Bay
