Is that answer "independent of" anything you saw at the Nats. Thanks, Patton

Hell, that car had paper tags on the original valve cover bolts!!! (just kidding but you get the idea). Yep, that's the car. Looked like they emptied a loose parts bin at a dealer into that thing.

    YUP, sure did.........

And probably would be a great Pure Stock candidate. Lighter than a 70..........................

Wish they'd have offered an automatic in 68, but the only one they had then was the 2 speed (barf, puke)................

Not sure they're any faster, but certailny more consistent and even a "girlie boy" could drive it. :moonu: :moonu: :moonu:

That W-31 was the nicest car at the show in my humble opinion. The owners father bought it new. It was a piece of history and priceless. John

 Ah yes, Matt K (I'm not attempting the last name). a trophy blue 69 W-31 automatic with black decals and stripes. yep, I know of the car. I've talked with Matt a few times. Dave H., Karl Sup saw this car at the AZ Olds Club show this past Feb. It won Best of Show. I'll FINALLY be able to see the car in person in a couple weeks, which is ironic since Matt lives like 30 minutes from me. It was in a resto shop outside of Chicago. Then it was shipped out to a shop in Ventura, CA. The guy who runs the CA resto shop is an Olds nut. Has 22 cars and his daily driver is a 70 Cutlass Wagon Hurst/Olds. YES, a Cutlass wagon, not Vista, Hurst. :jd:

I have a few pics of the W-31 somewhere, courtesy of Karl Sup. I can email Karl to see if he can dig up damn near ANY picture of the car as he took A LOT when he saw it this past Feb. In fact, I need to call Matt and ask him for the detailing manual that Phil (the guy who put the car together) gave him as I need it for my W-31. Or Phil might just send me one when he sends me money for the convertible trunklid I'm selling to him for a 71 W-30 he's working on. Phil was in MN. VERY knowledgeable guy. I talked with him a couple weeks ago to get some info on what certain under hood items my 69 W-31 should be.

    Patton,
As has already been answered, yes. It was a JO coded TH350. Available in 69 and 70 only.

Chris (owner of a 69 W-31 with a JO coded TH350), which unfortunately won't be ready in time for PSMCDR in a few weeks as I'm a little short on money.:(

I guess that my "YES" would be redundant at this point ....... :beer

Yes, it sounds like they came with autos by 69. As Jim and Chris mentioned that car was slick. One of those that stood out (along with a few others like Bill Szelag's Aegan Aqua 70 W30 hardtop and some others) from the others. Reminded me of John's (Gene's) 70 Post Coupe W31 @ Denver---one of those cars you just keep going back to to look over, and over, and over.....
