I though this is the best place for this question. I have a new Vinyl top on my 70 GS, what's the best way to keep it looking nice? After cleaning, is there a dressing that should be applied to get it looking fresh?

    Thanks, Matt.

Matt, I was told not to put anything on it. I'm on the same page as you and kind of thought it would be a good idea to use a protectant. The bad thing about using stuff on your roof it will come down on to the quarters and the windshield, AL.

I was told the same thing by the shop that installed mine, do not put anything on it. I said, really, with all the products out there claiming to renew and preserve tops , you say, use nothing? She replied that most all products contain some sort of petroluem base, and that would lead to dissolving the material and glue that binds it. She said that to keep it clean and if possible, keep indoors would cause it to last the longest. And if sometime years later the if the shine was gone, I could put a little silicone spray on a CLOTH, and lightly buff the top. NEVER spray directly on the top.........just what I was told.
