  2. In and effort to reduce the spam on the site, several years ago I had went to a program where I manually approve each and every new registration. This approval gives you full access to the site, to pictures, and to post, among other things. To be able to enjoy the full potential of the board for you, you need to be fully registered.. and that's easy.. Just send an email to me at jim@trishieldperformance.com and I will verify your registration. This policy will remain in effect indefinitely, as it has completely eliminated the bad actors from our site, who would spam and hack it, once they gained access. Thanks JW

Vintage GS Nationals Tickets 1988 & 1990

I ran across these today old tickets today. They sure bring back memories.

Do you have any tickets from the other years? If so, let’s see them.

1988 was the first GS Nats we attended (I was only 14). We were just spectators and didn’t even own a Buick. After that event we were hooked and by November 1988 I had convinced my dad to buy a wrecked ‘67 GS 400 convertible that I had spotted (that car is now mine).

For the 1989 we took the repaired ‘67 GS 400 convertible to the event (I don’t have the tickets from that event). We displayed it in the show and even made 1 pass down the drag strip (14.80).

For 1990 we took an Apollo White ‘70 GSX that my dad restored for a customer/friend. At that time there was no judged Concours class at the GS Nats. The car show was 100% peer judged, aka “popular vote” where each person that entered a show car got a ballot to go around and pick their favorite car in each class. We were thrilled to get a 2nd place in the GSX class because it had a dozen cars.

I recently race across the photos of those events as well as some homemade video of the 1990 GS Nats car show. I’ll try to get those uploaded sometime soon.

My dad found this '92 ticket last week. I was an 18-year-old that was a month away from graduating high school.
