Power Steering AM/FM Power Windows If you've been looking for that loaded to the hilt 69 GTO in all the right colors with all the right stuff...this car surely fits the bill! I bought this car for one reason, it's just striking to look at and gets more attention than any other GTO I own. This is a 2 owner Southern GTO that is super solid, very straight, and ready to tear up the streets. When I got the car, it was a fantastic car, frame on restored, just the finest eye candy you could buy. But, it needed some "tweaking". I completely rebuilt the front and rear suspensions, brakes, etc. The car comes with 2 sets of wheels, the original "Rally II" wheels with new Kelly tires that are "road force balanced" and the new set of American Racing Torque Thrust Wheels, which I just love. The extra set will be bagged up and put in the car...pick what you like! Now...this GTO didn't have it's original 400 in it, so I installed my "secret weapon"....a WY code 68 Ram Air II engine, which I spent thousands and thousands of dollars on. The block alone is likely worth half of what the cars worth, but...what the heck it's only money right? I had the motor completely rebuilt (I have all the specs)...I went with the original heads which flow very well actually, had hardened valve seats installed for unleaded gas, at 10.5 to 1 compression and its thumping cam...this balanced and blue printed engine makes 445hp on the dyno. It's been expertly curved and tuned. I had the TH-400 rebuilt as well with a mild stall converter, shift kit, kevlar bands, blue steels, etc. This engine and trans have around 500 miles on them and are just broken in. So, I bought a nice GTO...I spent a fortune making it the way it is today! Sure, it's not the original motor, but who cares, this 68 WY code motor is worth a fortune, I think that makes it worth more than what a numbers matching car would fetch! When was the last time you seen a super slick 69 GTO triple Black with hideaways? Yes...it's been a long time! This car you can get in and drive anywhere, it does not run hot (Be Cool Radiator) does not leak a drop of anything...stops on a dime, has had the driveline built to menacing street standards. This is what a muscle car should be. If the car needs anything...the car has all brand new A/C components and (had) functioning ice cold A/C with all R134A compliant componets, including a R134A Compliant A/C Compressor and Dryer, they simply need to be reinstalled, a few hours of work, and you'll have ice cold A/C again. I just removed, bagged, and tagged the compressor, dryer, and 2 hoses, installation bolts, even the A/C belt is included. Everything under the dash and in the A/C box in undisturbed. Very straight forward installation, I just never got to it! (Those items are pictured) I have 2 totes of parts for the car, including the restored original air cleaner. I'm a longtime collector of GTO's and know these cars pretty well. I have a excellent reputation for owning top notch muscle cars...(see my feedback) I own this car free and clear. I have a account with Central Dispatch and can get this car shipped to your door faster than your wife can get her Amazon order. My reason for selling? I sold my warehouse and am liquidating my collection! Not enough room at the Inn the wife says. This car has had a ton of love put into it, I'd like to see it go to a good home... PRICE IS FIRM
Doesn't have RAII heads on it. They would be #96 round ports. He does mention he went with the original heads but I would certainly want the correct heads on that block. Wonder what his theory is there, and if he has the #96 heads.
Ad shows as Chicago area but it isn't listed in the Chicago Craigslist that I could see. But it is in South Florida. That strikes me as odd.
Soooo many GTO’s without original motors. Every ad I read seems to be missing original motor. Tough to find a matching numbers GTO it seems.
Those are high $ pieces by themselves,..the car probably wouldn't bring anymore money with the heads,...so maybe he is playin selling the round ports separately if he even has them
Well, where to start; - nice looking car, no doubt, probably one of my favorites for Goats. Engine is wrong; - not a total deal breaker on one of these, as long as it isn't a 6. Poncho V-8s are only scarce in Canada. It'll find a buyer, and probably a lot quicker than most due to the colour, options, and what's been done to it.
I think that he is a dealer, he had a 71 442 Convertible for sale a while back, looked like a real nice car for a fair price, (under 30K). Same red building in the photos.
The GTO was for sale on eBay, no bids. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/264400471256 Seller recently received negative feedback on that '71 442 vert: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/264336268440 "He tells a great story...BUT". Of course there are two sides to every story. The hard part about the round ports is finding stock looking exhaust manifolds to go with them. I know where I can get a couple set of RA II heads besides the set I already have on my Firebird coupe. Manifolds are not to be found(at least for F body cars). There is a true RA II GTO for sale at the PY Forums. Not original motor or paint color. Started out asking $70k, now down to $57k.
