I put in a call to Summit about getting a vacuum pump and they told me the Moroso and others don't last long on a street car. So I'm thinking about using a smog pump as they are cheap to replace if they go bad every so often. Does anyone know how to go about this & how effective are they? Thanks!!!!!!

I used a FORD pump on my car for the first few years.......Decent vacuum,Around 7-9" down track.
I believe the application was a 1.9L,4-cyl,Escort from the late 80's
I still have it,We made some cool fittings to allow use of -10 AN fittings.
I pulled vacuum from the dr. side valve cover.

Longevity on these is helped by not driving them too hard,Mine was 3 1/2" pulley on the pump and 2'' on the crank.

you could try a vacuum pump from a ford 7.3 diesel or powerstroke diesel.
    should hold up .

Too much vacuum. A powerstroke vac pump pulls about 24" of vacuum and I don't think it would stand up to much oil either.
