Are there any good resources for looking this up. I have this black sphere that is about ~4-5 inches long ( no jokes please) and is mounted on the fire wall near the voltage regulator, but towards the passenger side. It has one vac. line off.

Also I have a small nipple on the front of the carb that is the lowest vac nipple, and it is plugged. Where is it supposed to connect?

    Thanks,

    Kevin

Not knowing the year or bbl yer runnin it's a toss up.. The box your refering to is probably the vac canister for the AC/Heater. Does your ac/heat system work correctly in all positions? If that is what it is, the line on a 2bbl should run from the PCV fitting on the rear of the carb, the smaller fitting should face straight up. If it's a 4bbl, I have no clue as I'll be figurin that one out myself shortly. HTH

I own a '71 GS with a 350-4 and solved the same problem with a diagram in my '71 Skylark Assembly Manual. The sphere does indeed link to the HVAC. The forward port goes to the vac. port on the back of the carb, the back port goes through the fire wall to the ventilation controls. I would highly recommend getting an Assembly Manual if you need diagrams. I got mine on ebay, and I believe Year One has them also.:)

    a photo!

I just scanned this from my chassic manual. They don't give huge detail on what everything is, but the general concept is there. The port your probably looking for is shown on the 64-31 diagram. Look on the bottom. Below is a thumbnail of the image, click on it for full size. Cheers! Scott
