Was down at the GS Nats this past weekend. Seem to a have a better people turnout than I'v seen in the past, and more race cars in the pits. With a brief walk through the pits ,I noticed maybe four Buick V8 Regals that could run in the Regal Modified class. Crouchmotorsports black and silver T-type and their sons friend with a Black Regal sporting GNX flares and a 430. Joe Eastwood's Brown Regal with a Stage II hood scoop. There was a gray Regal , big cowl hood scoop and maybe mini tubbed , I don't know if it could run the RM class or not , I think I heard it was powered by one of Lawrence Clark JR's engines. Who thinks they could get theirs done for next year and we can make strong showing in the RM class? Come hell or high water I will , just wanna make pass on the track , don't care how fast , (ok I do just a little)
The vast majority of them seem to be in the mid 11's ET , around mid teens for MPH. There are a couple that have done high 10's at 120 ish. Mine is no where close .... On the low end , low 13's to 12's seem to be an average , these tend to be "street" driven . All in all not a bad thing considering with just few mods you can get there.
Been thinking if I go next year I would bring my Regal instead of the Riv.Now if they came up with a racing class for the boats that might change.
Chris my car is always ready for RM. The main reason I haven't ran is because payout if there is time I always go back but Q-16 can be same number of passes for some money. I really hate our cars don't have more support at the events. Its was nice to see the few v8 regals besides me and my brothers there. If we can ever get a little help with sponsorship and the aftermarket it would be great. Fast enough to make it down the track. Its a bracket so anyone has a chance
Bigdawg70 Was that your car gray car I mentioned earlier in this thread? You are right, the RM class does need more backing , sponsorship and the likes. Everyone expects the G-Body Regals to have Turbo Buick V6 in them or dare I say the Small Block Chevy? They Even expect the GS's to have BBB 455's , but a Regal with Buick V8 ? It's great to see the small band of us with a Buick 455 in one, considering of all the swaps out there for the G-body that are "bolt-in" , the Buick 455 isn't . So take the extra time to fit one in , is awesome dedication.
Just to far away from Florida and at the wrong time of the year. Id love to go. Life gets in the way.
Yes my car just made some changes cosmetically this year. Without help we are dead in the water to speak. I really hope someone steps up and helps our breed. Hopefully we can have a good turnout one year.
