This approval gives you full access to the site, to pictures, and to post, among other things. To be able to enjoy the full potential of the board for you, you need to be fully registered.. and that's easy.. Just send an email to me at jim@trishieldperformance.com and I will verify your registration. This policy will remain in effect indefinitely, as it has completely eliminated the bad actors from our site, who would spam and hack it, once they gained access. Thanks JW

Gitlashgin, no need for the "wt___" language. Either choke will work, but it's awfully easy to forget to fully open the manual choke after the engine warms up, which will wreck gas milage as well as performance.

I am thinking about an edelbrock 1406 but with an electric or thermo choke. Would that then be a 1407? I am buying used and I don't really have a choice here. There's a guy with a 1406 manual choke for $150 but could I change it to an electronic choke? Are there any benefits to a manual choke other than being able to leave it wide open at all times?

Same Q-Jet for 20 years. No choke. She's a little surly until she warms up but I haven't had a desire to put one back on.

I think you'd want a choke in Oregon tho. No advantage at all for a manual choke over a properly set automatic choke.

I think the 1406 would be a little small its only 600 cfm. The stock quadrajet is 750 cfm.. and Buick's like fuel. I would stay away from a manual choke. You do want a choke in our wonderful weather though you would get real tired of not having one real quick.

There is All American Classics is Vancouver but they can be a bit pricey and depending on who you deal with you may get a bit of attitude.

There is a Expo center swap meet coming in April but I doubt you want to wait that long. I am sure a number of people on the board can help you out though.

There's a place out in Boring called U pull it U save.
They have at least 2 SBBs, that's where I've been going for parts.
However, I don't remember if their intakes were 4bbl or not.
