Just curious if anyone has run across this and how they got around it. Im installing a set of March underdrive pulleys on a 70 455, no air, and the waterpump pulley is so close to the alternators lower mount bolt (the one on the waterpump housing) that Im going to have to shave the head of the bolt down to about nothing just so the pulley wont make contact with the head of the bolt. Just need some ideas for something that would be solid and dependable. Thanks:confused:

Sounds like you got the wrong pulley. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but the water pump shafts were longer on the 71+ 455's. I remember, because my folks had 70 and 74 Electra's, and the blasted water pumps were different for both vehicles. They looked the same but the shaft was longer on the 74.

I don't think grinding that bolt down would help in the long run. Maybe call the folks you bought that from and ASK if that will fit a '70 455. They may have shipped you the wrong one?
