I was looking into picking up the poston under drive pullies, do any of you guys have problems ie. battery charging and over heating when using them???
Yes, I've had them for a couple year now. They prevented the belts from coming off every time I hit 6 grand but do make the engine get hotter at idle. Not enough water movement at low speed idle. Other then that they are great. I live in Texas with a motor that likes to run hot and I manage.
I have a set from Poston i bought a while back, you feel the power difference but it runs hotter at idle. Thanks
I have all three pullies and they look great, and the belts don't fly off but i think the alt. pulley isn't quite cutting it. I have a street/strip car and at the track last week the car wasn't starting as good after going 5 rounds, i didn't think it was going to start, maybe the pulley maybe not,but i think i'm gonna go without it for awhile to see what happens, just my 2 cents. If it does ok without it i will sell you this one for a good price
I had a set on an 87 Iroc I used to have. I didn't have cooling problems but I did have low output problems from the alternator. I did however notice a small seat of the pants improvement. Brian
I have a set of three on my car. I've experienced no problems what so ever. I did redo my entire cooling system and have a new alternator and wiring harness for the engine. Maybe that helped. But no thrown belts and I had them powdercoated black so nobody but me knows they're threre.....except you guys now.
I have all three underdrive pulleys from Poston (they look great); I would not do all three again. I have new everything and it definitely runs too hot when allowed to idle for extended periods of time in the heat (without AC on). The charging system is also marginal. Try the smaller diameter damper pulley only first. You may be able to use the underdrive water and alternator pulleys together with the stock damper pulley. Note: I have not tried the large (stock) damper pulley with the large (underdrive) water pump pulley so there could be clearance problems between them
