i have a 2900 lb car 455 10:1 ported iron heads poston 110 cam .050 252- 272 540 lift 110 center ta sp1 port matched 950 hp series cam installed straigt up, turbo 350 3500 converter, 4.10, 29.5/10.5 southside lift bars, timing locked 35 degrees.do i have a chance at goal, your info. will be very helpful, thanks.
It should be well in the 10's if they heads flow decent. This car went 11.0s with less engine than that at 3600 lbs.
Just Spray iT! And if it doesn't go low 10's, just spray it straight to the 9's. That cam will love the nitrous as will the compression... :Brow:
o No: My Regal, 3,200lbs.(w/driver), less then 10:1(pump gas for well over 350 passes)heads flow 270's @ .500, solid cam, 850 carb, 8" conv., 4.10 gear, best ET 10.31 @ 127+ :Smarty:
John, I thought that was with a 750 carb! Your signature needs to be updated...shows 10.32 VERDICT: Maybe so. Take it to the track and FLOG it! You're at sea-level, so that should help. And if HRP is your home track, you ought to be good to go.
my heads flow 296 int. 214 exh cam is in straight up, i was told to advance it 4 degrees, 58 cc compression may be 10.5. i have a 3500 stall in now, but do have a 4000 8 inch, if needed. also have a 175 h.p. shot of gas that i would like to try with the 3500 conv. more feed back is needed, thanks. what it do ?
Sorry, my mistake. I thought that it weighed 3900# not 2900#. Yes it should go mid 10's easily. Although I am not fond of that cam. Old technology.
3,900#--2,900# whats a 1000lbs? right? LOL, actually the weight was the reason that I said it would go 10's, of course that includes other variables also, like suspension and track hook. Car should easiely run in the 10's (though I do agree on the cam being an old design) and if your going to put the gas to it, 9's shouldn't be a problem! :TU: Ramin, when the car ran 10.31, I had my old swap meet 850 Holley on it, I since went to the 750 just because the 850's holes are all stripped out. And I've been to cheap to replace it. ou: So, 10.50-'60's are the norm now.
low 10sss do you have iron heads ? those are some hi flow #s my stage 1 iron heads flow 277 in & 215 ex and my car has run 9.57 @ 139.90 at 3250#. change the cam and i think youll have no problem running what you want. i think the 8 inch converter & the 410s will be way to much, i run 410s with a 32 inch tire with an 8 inch converter and i cross the line at 6800.later john
and yes john, they are iron heads ! i really dont want to put a solid. i also have a set of new rhoades lifters i wanted to try. the car has 60ft. a 1.48 was best but mostly 1.50 on the foot brake.
cam why dont you want to go solid ? do you have roller rockers ? i have a used comp cam that ran 11.20 in a 3850# 70 skylark with 10 to 1, 373 gears through the muffs on pump gas with iron heads. this car was driven to the track 60 miles every weekend. (he went chevy now) the specs on this cam are with 1.6 rockers 555 in 560 ex dur. @ .050 in 250 ex 256 lobe sep is 110. this cam ran the best installed at 104. the cam has no lifters (there in johnnos motor now) see what everyone thinks about this cam if you like it its for sale for $ 75.00. hope this helps
Sounds like the custom Comp. cam I had ground for my ST2 alum. headed engine. XE 294 lobes (hyd.). Ray
Call Scotty Brown and get 1 custom ground. They are just a few dollars more that an off the shelf cam.
