Glad to hear that you got the Camaro back. It burns me that you had to pay the thieves that stole your car, :af: although I would have done the same thing. I don't know the circumstances of the exchange, but I would have seriously considered grabbing the car and not giving them a cent (if possible). Or, stuffing the reward roll with $ copied at Kinko's.
That's great he got the car back. I can't wait to hear details. How much you want to bet that Pete's insurance company will balk at the idea of reimbursing him for the reward money ......
Ironically, the perps did offer a bit of "advice"...disable the truck so it can't drive, whether it's via a kill switch or whatever...if they're not moving in 30 seconds they walk. Just something for us *all* to think about...
So did thgese guys know what they were stealing? Was petes car stalked? I have heard of stories and know of one personally where people find a car and follow it around till the time is right. I know a fellow here in STL that had a Shelby that he was very proud of. A fellow asked him about a car he bvought to see4 if it was a Shelby and being a nice guy we had the guy come over and see just what parts make a car a real 69 Shelby. 3 months later he goe's on vacation and after a 2 week absence he finds his Shelby stripped of all its rare and very valuabe parts. Now theres a 69 fastback / fake Shelby out there. BUying the parts is impossible so the car basically was totalled. I bet he won't be giving any tutorials any time soon. Glad the Camaro is back.
Speaking of truck did he get that back too ? And if i was Pete and I paid an extorted ransom to get my car back the motor and trans would be missing lol .. Paul
What a heart breaking ordeal. I'm glad the car is back home where it belongs. The Pure Stock races wouldn't be the same without it.
Thanks guys for all your calls and support. What a time! These guys were after trucks and the trailer/car was a bonus. Put out a reward noon the next day. Calls started 3 hours later. This was like a bad movie, with good guys, bad guys, threats to burn the car right away and so on!. Sunday was suppose to be the day, but by the end of the day, thing were not happening right, and it looked too dangerous and no-one was going to get shot, and I was not going to lose the money too. Negotiations was dropped Sunday and started again Monday. Very nerve racking, very dangerous and at times I could not believe what was going on. Finally met in a church parking lot...... car came over the knoll (what a beautiful sight), money exchanged and they were gone. Some day, I'm writing a book. Nice to see it in my garage in one untouched piece. Thing will be done a little different from now on. Thanks again for all your support! Peter
I was racing at Cayuga Pure Stock Shootout on Saturday when all this went down. Everyone there formulating the plan on your behalf ,were unsure how it would get resolved..glad to hear it got done. See you at Stanton.
I have no problem with natives - JUST thieves ! The thought of someone stealing other peoples stuff ,having to pay to get it back, and then being above and immune to the law is ridiculous. Ever read any of the articles on the six nations reservation ,I think there's just something wrong. Sorry was trying to make light hearted comment on the fact that he had to exchange money for his own car to the piece of crap that stole his car! As I commented before thieves are good for only one thing FERTILIZER No excuses , no exceptions And I believe Pete has had 3 vehicles stolen buy these gentlemen, who just happen to be natives. I think I understand his and others frustration !
