Trim Rings on 15x7 Rally Wheels?

Hi, I have a '72 Skylark with the 15x7 Buick rally wheels. They're in decent shape, but there is a bit of pitting and rust in the chrome. Now as far as I know, these wheels never came with trim rings (since they're chrome), but I've always like the look, and I recently found this on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/22088539889...97&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK:MEWNX:IT&vxp=mtr

Now I was just wondering if these trim rings would even fit on the 15x7 Buick Rallys, or if anyone had any pics of Buick rallys with trim rings. The only picture I've seen so far was in the Year One parts catalogue, of a silver convertible (I believe it was a '70; definately '70-72), although this car may have had 14" wheels.
    Thanks in advance!

Beginning in 1973 Buick offered a 15" rally wheel with a trim ring. Check out the pics in this link http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.p...age-1-4-speed-For-Sale&highlight=1973+Stage+1 This car now belongs to Larry Gibson who is a member here. He may be able to lend more insight.

As far as the ebay rings are concerned, I don't know if they will fit. The original rings on Larry's car look the same as those applied to the plain steel 15x7" wheel with hubcap used in 70 and 71. I have not done a side-by-side comparison though.

Jim called me today and let me know about this thread. He also suggested that the trim rings appear to be identical to the ones used on 69 Z-28 Camaro's. Hopefully in the next day or so I can look at the trim rings on my 69 Z and compare. I do need to replace one on the 73 that I lost when I went over a pretty good bump late last fall. Heard it come off but couldn't find it in the dark.

I took a look at the E-bay ad and the mounting tabs are definitely from what is on the 73. Once installed though, it wouldn't show.

I messaged the eBay seller a couple days ago, to ask if they'd fit my car, and he replied back with a kind of generic, "They fit all 15x7 rally wheels" or something to that effect, which wan't especially reassuring. But I went ahead and ordered them. Worst case scenario, they don't fit, but I figure it's worth a shot.

Do you think the trim rings would have more difficulty staying on chrome wheels, since it's a bit more of a 'slippery' material?
You mentioned one of yours popped off, and I wouldn't want them coming off every time I hit a mildly rough road, seeing as I live in Michigan!

With as many tabs on the trim rings as shown on the E-bay ad, they should stay on if thye are designed to fit 15" ralley wheels. The tabs are slightly larger than the wheel opening and the tabs actually dig into the metal of the rim. Remove one and you can see the scratches left by the tabs.

I have actually had two of my trim rings come off of the 73 car. Left front(permanently lost) and the right rear (retrieved this one). The right rear trim ring actually has a twist in it which I think caused it pop off after hitting uneven pavement on a ramp to the freeway. I have never lost one from the 69 Z and it has seen some "spirited" driving over the years.

I think I like this look better than the all-chrome rallyes I recently bought. It'll be about 2018 when I'm ready to replace them, based on my limited use driving tire wear. Any takers?

I had a chance to compare the trim rings today. Outwardly they appear the same although the step on the Camaro trim ring is more pronounced than the ones on the 73 GS. They are the same size and should interchange. Attached are several pictures of them, side by side for comparison.

Larry are the Camaro tirm ring you have in the picture an aftermarket or the GM original? Reason for asking I have a set of trim rings on a 76 Buick Pace car and the trim rings attach the same as the Camaro, not like the 73 GS ones. I need to either get these fixed, small dents taken out and polished or get a new set, thaks Bill.

The trim rings on the Camaro are factory original as installed at the plant.
