For you guys that are running headers, what modifications or what crossmembers are you running to get the clearance of the headers? My headers end directly in the middle of the crossmember which is really limiting what kind of mufflers i can put on the race car. So, are you guys modifing the stock member or using an aftermarket one? Mine is the stock one that came with the 68 with a turbo 350 and i am still running the turbo 350. Thanks
G-Force makes nice crossmembers. (Re: Transmission crossmember question) Dear Denny and V-8 Buick tranny experts, They aren't cheap, but the crossmembers made by G-Force are very nice to insure that you have sufficient clearance: http://www.crossmembers.com/ My trusty 1965 Buick wagon has one and that made it easy to thread the T/A-Performance long-tube headers past. Here is a photo of the installation on this thread: http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.p...tures-of-a-trusty-quot-billy-goat-quot-Wagon! You'll have to scroll around, it is toward the end of the thread. Sorry, I'd give you a more precise link but I'm having a really bad day. Cheers, Edouard
I have a turbo 400. I also run a chevelle cross member that has a different shape than our buicks. Look into getting one of them. A 1968 to 1972 should work.
Denny, at one time I made up a crossmember with one of those Competition Engineering kits that you weld up. That damn thing was so heavy when I was done with it....I think it was heavier than a stock one. We had Tim Clowe make us a chromoly one through Bobb and it has been a dream. Light weight, small and a built in drive shaft loop.
Crossmembers from Olds Cuttlass' and 442s clear the 3.5 inch collectors on my 69 442. Have a spare from a 68 442 thats going on my 68 GS California. 430 BBB with a th400 is the going in there. Probably not too hard to find one of these.
Thanks for the offer Hector. I have one that i think will work now, might have to do a couple modifications is all, i will keep it in mind is this one doesnt work though.
