Hi Guys. The original AM/FM Stereo radio in my 68 Riv has a faulty transistor, causing the front speaker not to work. The "blown" transistor have, as fare as I can see, part # PRT 3098067. That should be a "common" transistor #, not a GM #. I can not find it locally, and would appresiate if any of you could advice of a possible source where I can purchase per mail order. Radio Problem Hey Per - What is the Model # of the radio ? I have a schematic and parts list for the AM/FM Buick Radios (7302514,7302534) and the transistors are listed with 4 different part #'s - (Delco, GE, International Rectifier, and RCA), but I need to know which one of the 13 radio transistors it is. The number you specified doesn't match any in my parts list. :TU:
Hi Randy. Appresiate your reply. All I know is that it is a AM/FM Stereo unit. I don't have the radio here at the moment, (will get it tomorrow), but I think most of the "paper labels" are unreadable or pilled off. Will try to get some more info on the model # than. It is the transistor that are located, (and can be seen from the outside), on the side of the balance control, (passenger side), & located between the "heat fins". Approx 5/8" in dia. Untill than :beer :beer Per.
AM/FM Stereo Radio OK Per - According to my info your radio would be a #7302544 (should have a seperate FM multiplex unit) - I don't have any material available for that model, but I asume it has to be similar to the AM/FM mono radio. The transistor you are referring to is the Output transistor and has the following part numbers: Delco DS-501, GE-4, International Rectifier TR-03, RCA SK-3012 (Note PNP*) *When replacing apply silicone grease to both sides of insulator. Tighten mounting screws securely. Hope this helps you out - LOL :beer :TU:
Thanks Randy. The only label I can find on it, (partly readable), say ......804 - 4M..., but that look like a patent "thing". On the front "chrome" cover is part # 7307423 2 casted. Hovever, I am sure that the Delco # you gave me from the mono radio will be the same. I am going on a six week home leave to Norway starting Sunday, so I might not be able to check it out, but I will keep you informed about it ASAP. Thanks again, Per. :beer :beer
Hi Randy & the rest of "the team". Had no luck finding the transistor in Norway. Anybody have any idea where I could possibly get one ordered and shipped "on-line" from the US? Per. :beer
:ball: No luck with the Delco DS-501 transistor at Radioshack. Have tried different search to no avail. Any other suggestions? Per. :beer
Per, I did a google search on Delco DS-501 transistor, and found this: http://www.ceitron.com/semi/ceidelco.html Right at the top of the page. Go to the bottom of the page and click "go back to semiconductor home page" for ordering info.
Thanks Larry. :TU: Being an absolute doork on the computer, I only know the Yahoo search ou: ou: I have already sent them a request. Hope they are willing to ship overseas. Will keep you informed. Thanks again. Per. :beer
Yes Randy, I have been thinking of that, but can't find any locally. Just shipping and custom tax bringing it from the US will be well over $100, and can you imagine if the same transistor is blown ou: Anyway, just received a answer from "Larry's", http://www.ceitron.com/semi/ceidelco.html, & have ordered from them. Thanks for helping. Per. :beer
One of those days. Hi Guys. Just for your info, had the new transistor fitted at a shop in town. Tested it at home before atempting to install it, & it still does not work. Getting really p...ed. :af: Luckely I ordered two transistors, so I still have one spare in case "they" blew it. Seems that good old radio tech's are impossible to find these days. On top of that, my alternator quit working, , the A/C still does not work :ball: & it seems that I have a problem with changing to 3 gear. I think I better sit down & have a beer or two ou: (Or maybe a LARGE Vodka). Per. :beer :beer
